Fruit Box Theatre is an independent LGBTQIA+SB theatre company that splits its time between London (United Kingdom), Naarm (Melbourne, Australia) and Gadigal (Sydney, Australia). Their mission is to strengthen intersectional representation, build community through storytelling, and lead creative processes guided by connection, integrity and respect.
Supported by a PFA small grant, Fruit Box Theatre will provide free tickets for older LGBTQIA+ community members to attend their production of Cruise in October 2026, creating opportunities for queer elders to reconnect with community and participate in LGBTQIA+ cultural life.
The project will run during the production season, with ticket allocation, community outreach and engagement occurring in the lead-up to performances utilising their existing networks. Fruit Box Theatre want to reduce barriers that can prevent older LGBTQIA+ people from accessing arts and community events, while creating spaces where queer histories are celebrated. Through this project, they aim to strengthen intergenerational connection and ensure older members of our community feel welcomed and valued.
