Working It Out – Jimpa Film Screenings and Lived Experience Speaker Panels

Working It Out (WIO) is Tasmania’s sexuality, gender and intersex support, education and advocacy service. Working It Out provides support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer and asexual Tasmanians as well as education and capacity building for schools, workplaces, government and non-government organisations.

A small grant has been awarded to WIO to fund hosting three screenings of the acclaimed Australian film Jimpa by director Sophie Hyde during Seniors Month in October. This uplifting, multi-generational story explores identity, diversity and family history through the experiences of three generations. Delivered free of charge (or by donation) to maximise accessibility, the screenings will help showcase queer family stories that remain under-represented. Each screening will be followed by an intergenerational panel discussion, creating opportunities for community connection, understanding and meaningful local conversations.
