Performance Pictures received a Small Grant towards the production of their short film The Elephant.
Every story has the power to change hearts. Films often present these stories in stark, binary terms: will they be accepted, or won’t they? But this story isn’t just about the question of whether the parents will accept the boys, it’s about the ways in which love can be quietly conditioned, and the yearning for validation in a world where silence can speak as loudly as words. By focusing on this grey area, we explore what it truly means to love and be loved, without oversimplifying the realities of cultural and familial expectations.
They plan to go into production in September 2025, with the aim of having it completed by February 2026, in time for submission to festivals such as Frameline and Cannes.
