Uniting Country SA: Port Augusta Pride Picnic

Uniting Country SA (UCSA) provides support to families, single adults and children who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. With over 130 years of experience supporting regional communities, Uniting Country SA is dedicated to Caring for Country People. They have received a PFA Small Grant towards this year’s Port Augusta Pride Picnic.

The Port Augusta Pride Picnic project is especially significant because it embodies everything UCSA aspires to: community building, visibility, and inclusivity. This project is UCSA’s commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment where all members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community can come together, share their stories, and support one another.

The event allows UCSA to actively contribute to our community’s well-being and cohesion of our community, reinforcing the bonds that make them stronger and more resilient with a shared vision of where every LGBTQIA+ person feels respected, seen, and supported. The Pride Picnic is more than an event; it celebrates identity and ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive and compassionate society.

The Port Augusta Pride Picnic committee is excited to host a community, family-friendly pride picnic on Saturday, November 23, 2024, between 10 am and 2 pm at the Port Augusta foreshore. This will be the first Pride Picnic held in Port Augusta and will be a part of the South Australian Feast (LGBTIQA+) Festival, a series of events usually limited to metro Adelaide every November.

UCSA are committed to providing a safe, welcoming space for the LGBTQIA+ community of Port Augusta and beyond to celebrate and connect. The event will feature a diverse range of LGBTQIA+ friendly community service providers, ensuring a supportive environment for all attendees. There will also be a variety of food and entertainment for families and attendees.
