Lisa Salmon – Wicked Women Archival Photography Recreation Project

To celebrate Queer feminist history, Lisa has received a Small Grant to recreate selected photographs from Wicked Women, a delectable sex-positive zine published in 1988–96 using original models, poses, photographers, locations, clothing, and props.

Recreated images will show the passing of time and also reveal what remains of the spirit of the 1990s era in the eyes of the participants. The year-long project will include an oral interview with each subject to collect their memories of youth and track their lives since. The interviews will acknowledge the contribution of iconic dykes and trans folk and showcase the creation of a vibrant community.

Photographs will be exhibited at Midsumma Festival in 2025.
