Georgia Ketels: Recollection

Recollection is a play written by Georgia Ketels and directed by Cathy Hunt, premiering at fortyfivedownstairs June 26 – July 7 2024.

Olivia, a mother, pieces her late teenage daughter’s life into a perfume.

This new queer play offers a sensory experience for audiences, employing scent to capture the play’s delicate interpretation of grief, decay, and blooming.

Recollection is Georgia’s first play, a finalist of Midsumma’s Queer Playwriting Award in 2021, and is supported in 2024 by the University of Melbourne and VCA’s VCA50 Grant and City of Melbourne’s annual arts grants as well as Pride Foundation’s Small Grant.

Recollection is the expression of a story Georgia and her collaborators desperately want to tell, of acceptance, grief and uncontainable love.
