Leah McMurray-Jones: By Any Other Name

By Any Other Name is a short film exploring the emotional journey of a transgender man, Cooper, returning to his rural Australian hometown – where he was only ever known as Dianne, the girl who went missing. Set as a contemporary Australian Western, the story weaves themes of identity, memory, and belonging.

Leah and their team aim to create a powerful film that authentically represents the transgender experience and supports emerging LGBTQIA+ creatives. This is more than a film – it’s a learning ground, a collaboration, and a contribution to inclusive Australian storytelling.
