PFA held our first event in Brisbane – Thursday evening 24 November 2022

We were thrilled to have our first event in Queensland, a fundraiser for our LGBTIQA+ refugee giving program.

Colin Biggers & Paisley lawyers hosted us at their lovely office near Eagle Street Pier with gorgeous views across the river. Thanks to Tamara Sims, Daisy and her team for their generosity and support.

Edwin, peer leader at the Third Queer Culture peer support group gave a speech about his experience as an international student with refugee experience, and about finding authenticity through connection with other queer refugees in Brisbane.

Our Patron, Dennis Altman, as the son of refugees escaping Nazi occupation, spoke about the importance of supporting this very marginalised group of people.

A lovely bonus was finding more pro bono legal connections for the peer support group members.
