Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association of NSW Inc (MDAA) is a dedicated advocacy organisation supporting people with disability, with a strong focus on multicultural inclusion. Their services are free and funded through government support.
MDAA have received a small grant towards hosting a painting workshop along with a morning tea for 15-20 LGBTQIA+ CALD individuals and PWD before National Coming Out Day. The event will be facilitated by 2-3 trained staff and interpreters for attendees. It will offer a safe space for participants to express identity through art, enjoy rainbow-themed morning tea, and connect with peers.
Such initiative will reduce isolation and build belonging for the cohort and build awareness and acceptance among communities that are closed off on these topics.
