In December 2024, we partnered with Rainbow Giving Australia for their inaugural grant round, offering $20,000 towards improving the health and well being, and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people living in rural and regional areas of Australia.
We’re proud to announce that the recipient of this grant is Illawarra Shoalhaven Gender Alliance Inc!
Illawarra Shoalhaven Gender Alliance Inc (ISGA) is a registered health promotion charity that aims to enhance collaboration between the trans and gender diverse community, health providers, and allies by providing opportunities for engagement, support, collaboration, education, training, and advocacy. ISGA aims to be trans led and inclusive.
ISGA celebrates the diversity of the trans and gender diverse experience, advocating against systems that limit or prevent access to affirming healthcare, supporting autonomy and respect for all bodies, identities and expressions.
This large grant has been awarded to ISGA to fund three cornerstone projects for the organisation in 2025.
Firstly, the development of a transgender and gender diverse youth network across regional NSW, where future leaders in TGD advocacy will be provided with training across leadership, advocacy, public speaking, fundraising and community building.
Secondly, a research and development project providing TGD inclusive practices to aged care facilities across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region.
Finally, support for ISGA’s annual Trans and Friends Festival Illawarra (TAFFI), a two-day festival of live entertainment, health and well being workshops, lived experience panels and market stalls for local transgender and gender diverse people as well as their friends and family. Pride Foundation Australia have supported previous TAFFI events in 2023 and 2024 through our Small Grants program.
Congratulations to Illawarra Shoalhaven Gender Alliance Inc for their successful application, we look forward to seeing the impact these initiatives have for transgender and gender diverse people living in regional NSW.
