Once again, Pride Foundation Australia (PFA) and Rainbow Giving Australia (RGA) came together at the end of 2025 to provide a partnered grant of $20,000 in RGA’s Ignite Pride grant initiative; medium-sized grants between $5k-$20k for local or place-based projects focused on specific groups or populations, with the aim to support a particular project within the organisation.
PFA Board Chair Ruth McNair AM says “We are very pleased to have partnered again with RGA to contribute funds for one Ignite grant. We chose to focus on trans and gender specific projects as we see a continued under-funding in this area, and want to counteract the escalating stigma and vilification towards TGD Australians.”
We’re proud to announce that the recipient of this grant has been awarded to Magenta, a peer-based project dedicated to providing services to support and promote the health and safety of people involved in the sex industry in Western Australia.
With the $20,000 Ignite Pride grant, Magenta will expand its peer-led education and advocacy program focused on TGD sex worker inclusion. Over 12 months, the project will develop and deliver 15 professional development workshops for health professionals, psychotherapists, counsellors, and community organisations across Western Australia. These workshops will strengthen the capacity of services to provide intersectional, sex worker–informed, and LGBTQIA+ inclusive care, addressing stigma and systemic exclusion experienced by TGD sex workers, particularly migrants and people of colour.
The project will also extend TGD-led advocacy and outreach, producing co-designed resources to support TGD sex workers in accessing safe, affirming health and counselling services while amplifying their voices within WA and across national networks.
