a ry presentation: girl at the bottom of a well, by Henry Kelly

girl at the bottom of a well is a new performance work by emerging transgender actor and artist, Henry Kelly and produced by a ry presentaiton. It is a one-man, transmasculine fairy tale, exploring gender identity, isolation, queer erasure, and the Public vs. Private.

The show premiered at La Mama Theatre in June 2024. From mid-April, the creative team began constructing the show, and from late-April, the core performance team of director, dramaturg, and artist (Kelly) commenced rehearsing the work.

The impetus for this work was inspired by the gender journey that many experienced throughout lockdowns during COVID-19, and is charged by the recent attacks against the trans and gender-diverse community.
