We’re proud to announce the recipients of our SMF Grants round for December 2020. Read below to find out a little more about the businesses and communities that were awarded this round, and what their grant money is funding.
Nambucca Valley Youth Services Centre
Nambucca Valley Youth Services Centre is a vibrant youth friendly service with a high success in youth intervention, vocational training and youth employment programs. Nambucca Youth Services Inc. would like to support our newly established LetsBeeGay Youth group to continue with their fortnightly meetings/gatherings. The group is supported by the Youthie, a mentor, and local services. The funds will contribute to purchasing additional art-craft items and catering.
Naughty Noodle Fun Haus
Naughty Noodle Fun Haus is a continually evolving Arts & Entertainment organisation established in 2018 as an intentional cause, culture and creativity led initiative that fosters transformation, builds inclusion, promotes diversity and creates dialogue across our Central Coast region. The NNFH will be using the grant money to bring the local community together on days of significance including Mardis Gras, IDAHOBIT, Pride Month, Wear It Purple Day and RU OK Day, to foster social interaction, awareness, visibility and to encourage participation of diverse backgrounds within the local community.
Unfit for Publication (UFP)
Unfit for Publication (UFP) is a unique and important record of NSW’s homosexual past. UFP will be using the funding to purchase web hosting and domain-name rental over a two year period as they transition the project to a more secure longer term future.
A Modern Gay’s Guide
A Modern Gay’s Guide is Australia & New Zealand’s only LGBTIQ+ youth/young adult focused pop-culture, news and events online publication. A Modern Gay’s Guide will be using their grant to renew their domains and SSL security to ensure users on the site are secure and safe, and remaining funds will go towards producing a further five or so articles for their readers.
Stride
Stride provide services to support people at all stages of their mental health journey, from early intervention services, designed to support children, young people and adults at-risk of developing mental health conditions, to services for people with ongoing and complex needs. The PFA Small Grant will go towards marketing, graphic design and printing for their new LGBTQIA+ youth program Out Social. Out Social aims to meet the needs of Waggas LGBTQIA+ community members of all identities by providing access to a space where they can feel accepted in their identity and access support with confidence.
